Serendipity 2: The Wrath of Pie!

Serendipity - The occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way: "a fortunate stroke of serendipity".

It's been two years since the first voyage of the Starship Serendipity.
The universe has changed. The Donutian Republic has grown. Small Fry is now Big Fry*

The Serendipity has been issued a new mission: To heroically investigate a disturbance on the planet MZQ-9342, supposedly caused by a strange new menace, known only as:

The Pie!

MZQ-9342 is located on the edge of explored space.

As of this moment, the ship is docked at Deep Dish 9, a (highly commercial) space fortress commanded by Big Fry*

*Big Fry was a small fry named Small Fry who joined the crew back in The Serendipity. He's now been promoted, and given command of Deep Dish 9. He has only gained an inch in height, his new name stems from his job, not his height.

As our story begins, you hear the ship's computer Jack say, in a disinterested voice, "We will enter hyperspace in one hour. All shopping must be done now. Puh-lease don't make us late."

Now, just jump in, take any position you want

Alrighty, um, I'll be...6! No, 2! Um...*mumbles eenie meenie minie mo*...

First Mate, reporting for duty!

"See ya, later Jack!...Suvenier shop, here I come..." *trying to mantain an outer visage of coolness, I rush over to the key chain stand*

[Camilla]

"Why are Chefs always at the bottom of the list?" *sighs* "Sign me on as Chef, Cap'n! Mr. Jack, you better not leave without me-or your crew won't survive very long! I'll be back just as soon as I fill this grocery list!" *holds up roll of paper, and accidentally drops the end, letting the list un-roll and stop underneath the space ship.* "Uh, well, hrm, it won't take me long, really!" *sheepishly smiles, and rolls up paper, quickly disappearing before Jack can say anything.*

[Gaberik]

"but CC (Chef Camilla) you always get to be the chef, why can't i be the chef" *stomps off pouting* "i like making food! you are mean" continues to storm off "i am going to invent new cooking materials, be back in a couple hours!" disappears down a dark stairway.

[Camilla]

"Well, Engineer Fasttune, if you wanted to be the Chef, you did get here before me, so you could have applied for the job." *grins excitedly* "Oooh! Any new cooking appliance will always be welcome in my kitchen! Oh, and make sure you're on the space ship! Mr. Jack said we were leaving in an hour-sharp!"

[Gaberik]

"i invent on the ship anyhow, so it doesn't matter if we leave in an hour, wait, stop!" *starts chasing new invention across the workshop* "CC, Help! it is getting away! no...." *looks out the broken window as the new invention runs off* "it had to jump out the window didn't it?"

[Daisy]

"Ooh, shiny! Hey Camilla, looks at this great new key chain I--AUGH!" *is tackled by strange looking blender-ish thing with a spatula arm*
"Fasttune!"

[Gaberik]

"Daisy, i told CC to help, she didn't, blame her!" *runs to tackle the blenderish thingymabob and breaks the top off to kill it*

[Sir Dalton]

[Gaberik]

"MG Dalton (Musical Gunner) we set sail in just under an hour." *starts struggling back up to the ship with the broken invention dragging behind* "MG Dalton, you had better come learn the about the guns and the instruments, they can be tricky" *still grunting up the hill*

[Sir Dalton]

OK, coming! And I'm not an MG
I already know how to play the piano anyways

[Gaberik]

"yes you are an MG, you are the musician thus the M and a gunner, thus the G, so you are MG Dalton, at least in my presence" *slaps MG Dalton on the back* "these guitars are tricky, if you hit the wrong note it fires a different shot than you wanted, and the piano, the flats and sharps are different powers, so use the piano downstairs for just playing"

[Sir Dalton]

Umm, ok. I'm not a musical gunner... I'm a musician and a gunner. Different things you know

[Gaberik]

"MG Dalton, if you have musical talent and are a gunner.... i think i made my point, and beware, those two can be a deadly combination"

[Daisy]

*Whistles loudly* "Alright, crew, whip into shape! No more bickering. When the Captain gets back I expect to present him with a tip-top crew! Got it? Good. If you need me I'll be catching up with old Big Fry."
*begins to walk away* "Ooh, postcards..."

[Camilla]

"Whoops, sorry Fasttune! Can't help at the moment-I've got supplies to get! If you could create a machine that would make food...like fruits and vegetables and stuff...well, that would be great!"

[Gaberik]

*sags shoulders in frustration* "call me Chunky, everybody does, the story how i got that name is rather humorous, my cousins and i were thinking about nick-names for a little 'club' we had and my little cousin was called old foggy (though we sometimes called him old froggy) my other cousin isn't very graceful, so we called him figure skater (no offence to anybody that likes or does figure skate) and my brother we called princess (nothing like a princess, we all had to have names that we opposite of what we really were) and we couldn't find a good one for me then old froggy said 'we should call you Chunky, because you aren't close to being chunky' so that is how i got that name" (real life and we will say that in this tread too )

[Kelcin]

*Realizing my near-fatal mistake of forgetting to shop, I pull out my CT(Computer Thingy), and rapidly fire off orders*

To Fasttune: "Engineer Chunky, I need a XyZzY-Box, with two party games, pronto. Spare no expense."

To Camilla: "Don't forget to buy a waffle maker, Deep Dish 9 has the best ones this side of Pluto."


*I then promptly walk into Big Fry's office.*
Me: Big Fry, I need the latest in Space Time Continuum Tear Detectors.
Big Fry: Try this, it's our latest model.
*Big Fry hands me a ball point pen.*
Me: Umm, how does it work?
BF: You will know when the time comes.
*I hand the pen to Daisy to examine, if she is in the room*
Me: I- *I'm rudely interrupted, as Jack's voice blares painfully over the intercom*

"FIVE MINUTES UNTIL LAUNCH. ALL PEOPLE NOT ON BOARD WILL BE EXTERMI- BEAMED ABOARD."

[Sir Dalton]

I'm on board already. Guess where I am

[Gaberik]

*runs to The Boxy Shop to get thy XyZzY-Box for Cap'n and slam into a trash can* "what is that doing there?" looking in the center of the sidewalk

[Sir Dalton]

Those are my drums I'll move them *moves them*

[Daisy]

*stares at pen* "Seems to be some sort of precision instrument of mechanical. . .erm...*mumbles* it's a flippin' ball point pen."
Kelcin: I-*Jack's announcement*
"Looks like we should be going. Big Fry, it's good to see you looking so...big and erm...reformed from...*clears throat* Annnnywho...anymore business we need to take care of before loading up, Captain?"

[Kelcin]

"As long as somebody gets us a waffle maker, we're set."

[Sir Dalton]

I'll get one

[Camilla]

"Righto, Cap'n! Got it! Last one they had in stock, too. Can someone please help me with this stuff? I don't want Jack to get mad and leave without me!"

[Sir Dalton]

I'll help! *scurries over to help*

[Kelcin]

Into CT: "Jack, beam us up!"
*Everyone is beamed up from wherever, without their loot.*
"Miss Daisy, prepare the ship for warp."

[Daisy]

"Ugh, Jack! All my key chains and t-shirts! I saved a bundle...I even got you one!"
Jack: *sighs in annoyance* I'm a computer, Daisy. I don't wear t-shirts.
"Fine. Be that way." *flips large switch with red plastic handle* "Preparing for warp, Captain. Everybody...this'll be a little bumpy. Mwehehe..."
*warp begins*

[Sir Dalton]

I might get warpsick...

[Kelcin]

"Just be sure to toss your cookies in the kitchen, Chef Camilla needs some extra ingredients." *I say, with a wink*

[Sir Dalton]

I don't need cookies anyway

[Camilla]

"JACK!! I'll have you know, I spent good money on that food, and we only got half of it loaded! If everyone starves, it's not MY fault! Cap'n, I could use some extra ingredients, but I don't think I need any of that variety..."

[Gaberik]

"i could be gardener.... i can grow you new food Camilla" *runs down a "secret" door* "be back later"

[Kelcin]

Suddenly, the ship drops out of warp. I fly out of the Captain's chair, and slam into the widescreen HD viewscreen. "Uh ah fh..." I mumble, as a horrifying noise comes over the Ship's communications...

OOC: Hope I'm not forcing the game along too much, don't want us to get stuck baking cookies in Warp. Though, it has a certain ring to it...

[Sir Dalton]

Get stuck baking cookies?

[Daisy]

"Who--umph--ack!" *lands in awkward position sitting in a chair...upside down* *quickly corrects self and mumbles* "Ahem. There goes a bit of my pride..."
"Captain, what was that? It almost sounds like...voices...Anyone (who does not now find themselves stuck somewhere rendered unconscious) got a translator handy?!"

[Gaberik]

*comes to with face slammed in the new garden in time to here over the CT* "anyone got a translator handy?!" "Yea, be right up Daisy" *rubs dirt off of face before entering the control room* "there you are Daisy"

[Sir Dalton]

I think I'm sick... *walks over to the rail*

[Daisy]

"Thanks, 'Tune. Now let's see...*presses buttons randomly* Oops. If Jack hadn't beamed me up without my Gadets for Dummies book..."
"Neither the time nor the place, Daisy."
"Right sorry." *continues fiddling and voice starts talking through it in English*
HUGS(Horrifyingly Ugly Guy-ish Sound): ...know who you are and why you were sent! I demand an audience with your Captain! Your mission shall not succeed. We know who you are and...*HUGS repeats message*

[Sir Dalton]

Why did I ever join the ship? Uh oh, I think I see a shark...

[Kelcin]

*Sees the 'shark' 'swimming' through space towards them* "Holy Unexpected Plot Twist! Ready the guns! Trace HUGS's voice, see if it's coming from the shark." *Turning to Camilla* "And Camilla, bake some cookies, we may be having company."

[Camilla]

"Righto, Cap'n!" *mutters to self* "If I can just get my hands on Jack, he's going to pay for this mess...Cookies! Hmph. Why would anyone want cookies when we may be under attack? Coffee is more of a weapon than cookies!"

[Gaberik]

"i heard that these specific sub-species of shark is extremely allergic to Chocolate Chip Cookies and will pass out soon after they eat them, but they love the cookies, though i have never experienced it myself."

[Kelcin]

"Trace results indicate that the voice signal is coming from through the black hole."
"Excellent work Jack. Full power into the black hole!"
*In mock enthusiasm:* "Great!"

*The ship heads into the black hole*

OOC: Speak now, or forever hold thy peace. In this universe, that is. *Cue maniacal laugh*

[Sir Dalton]

Umm... sound cannot escape from a black hole, or light or anything for that matter.

[Daisy]

"But Captain! W-we aren't anywhere near MZQ-9342, and....*sigh* I can tell by the look in your eye I'm wasting my breath. You'll never be able to retire, will you?--Whoa!"
*ships goes through black-hole*
"This is not what I expected..." *space on this side of the hole is brighter and several small starships can be seen zipping around* "Jack...are you sure this is where HUGS was coming from...?"

Umm... sound cannot escape from a black hole, or light or anything for that matter.

The good thing is this game is based strictly on imaginative fiction and "black hole" is pretty much code for "sucking portal to whatever you want"
